Finally, after the long wait and some leaks today the Taiwanese smartphone brand has officially unveiled the company’s first flagship smartphone of the year and the device is called HTC U12 Plus. So, without any delay let’s dive into the article to know about the specification, pricing, and availability of the device.
The all new HTC U12 Plus sports 6 inch LCD6 Quad HD+ display along with 18:9 aspect ratio and has 2880 x 1440 pixels resolution, the display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone is powered by 2.8 GHz octa core Snapdragon 845 (and why not, its the flagship) and paired with 6 GB RAM along with Adreno 630 GPU. In terms of storage, the device has 64/128 GB UFS 2.1.
Moving to the camera department, the smartphone sports Quad cameras which means dual cameras on the front and back side. The rear cameras are in the combination of 12 megapixel (1.4μm pixels f/1.75 lens) + 16 megapixel (1μm pixels f/2.6 lens) with lens, OIS, EIS, UltraPixel 4, UltraSpeed AF, HDR Boost, 2x optical zoom, portrait mode, 4K @ 60fps 1080p @ 240fps slo-mo 360° 3D Audio with 4 microphones. Moving to the front cameras, the company housed Dual 8MP sensors 1.12μm pixel size, f/2.0 84° wide-angle FOV, portrait mode.
The company has emphasized the audio department of the device, as it features HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition, HTC USonic USB-C + noise cancelling headphones. The device also comes with IP68, which means you can enjoy the rain without worrying about the splash. Talking about the security features, the device comes with the fingerprint scanner and it is placed on the rear side of the device.
In terms of the connectivity options, it supports dual SIM (in selected markets), 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC. Moreover, the device supports two virtual assistants i.e. Google Assistant and Alexa. Apart from this, the device doesn’t come with any physical buttons, however, the company implemented a technology similar to Apple’s force touch technology, and HTC used Edge Sense 2.0 which will work based on the pressure applied to the buttons.
Coming to the operating system, the device runs on the latest Android Oreo 8.0 and it ships on 3,500 mAh battery with Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0. The smartphone will be available in Translucent Blue, Flaming Red, and Ceramic Black colour choices.
Speaking about the pricing and availability, the 64 GB variant of the HTC U12 Plus is priced at $799.99 in the US (approx. ₹54,750), and the 128 GB variant of the device has the price tag of $849 (approx. 58,000). The device will be available in the US by the middle of the June, and there is no information about the availability of the device in the Indian market.
