The Chinese electronics manufacturing giants Huawei is on stage with multiple products and services launch. The company has now unveiled their latest tablets – the Huawei MatePad Pro and MatePad 11 which runs Harmony OS 2.0 out of the box.
The MatePad Pro 12.6 aims to compete with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S-series and Apple’s iPad Pro. Speaking of the chipset, the MatePad 11 and a smaller MatePad Pro 10.8 is powered by the Snapdragon SoCs from Qualcomm after a long time. Let us figure out the detailed specifications and features of the new Huawei tablets.
Harmony OS 2.0 for Huawei MatePad
The new Harmony OS 2.0 in the MatePads come with a cleaner desktop-like UI that has a separate dock and widgets, a control panel and a reachability feature that shifts all in-app function bars towards the side for easier access. The new OS also supports mouse throughout the UI with live app previews.
With the Multi-screen feature, users will be able to drag and drop files on the tablet and access calls and texts from the tablet. A new Mirror mode lets the users link tablets with Windows running Huawei laptops. The MatePad display can now be used to work on your sketches via Photoshop or use as a secondary display to large monitors.
Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 and 10.8
The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 as the name sounds features a 12.6 OLED panel with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate whereas the Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 gets an IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR 10 and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The MatePad Pro 12.6 is powered by the Kirin 9000E whereas the smaller model is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. The tablets are clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage.
Coming to the camera department, there are three cameras at the back and one among them is a dedicated 3D depth sensor. The company has fitted the selfie camera inside the side bezels to facilitate landscape-mode video calls. The speakers are tuned by Harman/Kardon and there is a quad-mic setup for better voice clarity.
The bigger MatePad is backed by a 10,000 mAh battery and the 10.8 version gets a smaller 7,250mAh battery. Both models support 40W fast charging, 27W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. The company also offers Huawei’s new M-Pencil stylus and smart magnetic keyboard as extra accessories.
The new MatePad Pro 12.6 is priced at €799 and is available in Gray, Green and White colours. At the moment the company has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the Snapdragon model.
Huawei MatePad 11
It features a 10.95-inch LCD display that offers 2,560 x 1,600 resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate. Like the Pro models, MatePad 11 retains the quad-speaker setup tuned by Harman Kardon and features the same quad-mic array.
Under the hood, the new Huawei MatePad 11 sports a slightly older Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is backed by a 7,250 mAh battery in combination with 22.5W fast charging brick supplied inside the box. Like the Pro models, the MatePad 11 will also support Huawei M-Pencil and a smaller smart keyboard.
It is priced at €399 and the availability details have not been revealed at the moment.
