The promotional calls and the messages are really a big headache for every user and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is trying its best to reduce the promotional calls and messages and now the authorities have released new guidelines to reduce the same. So let’s get into the article to check out the details.
TRAI has now issued new guidelines and the same says that the telecom operators are now required the consent of the user on a per-agency basis. This means if an agency wants to send promotional messages to the user then they need to ask the telecom operator to get consent from that particular user.
The network will send an SMS to the user with a short code starting with 127xxx and the same will mention the purpose, scope of consent, and the name of the brand/agency. Users are required to respond to the SMS by either providing or denying consent. So you can simply reject and avoid unnecessary calls and messages.
It is worth mentioning that initially, the role is applicable on messages and then it will be implemented on calls as well.
