It was previously reported by Reuters that the authorities privately asked smartphone brands to pre-install the Aadhaar app on their devices. Now, the same source says that the government of the country has dropped the proposal following security and cost concerns raised by the smartphone brands.
As we know, the Aadhaar app features the Aadhaar card details of an Indian resident, including a 12-digit unique identification number, birth date, residential address, and it is also integrated with the individual’s fingerprints and iris scans.
