The battle royale genre started as one of the top mobile gaming genres worldwide with the launch of PUBG Mobile in 2018 and since then, many different and exciting titles like Free Fire Max, COD Mobile and Apex Legends Mobile have come out under the BR genre.
Now, aiming to put India on the global gaming map, Pune-based gaming studio, SuperGaming, has revealed the first trailer of its upcoming game, titled Indus – Battle Royale, at New York’s Times Square. The game will be available on mobile, PC and consoles.
Obviously from the name, we can guess that this is a battle royale title, but what is so special about it? Well, there are a few things.
To begin with, the game is based on the concept of Indo-Futurism. Simply put, the Indus Valley Civilization is the studio’s imagination of a world so technologically advanced that it flew into a distant galaxy and was discovered by the rest of humanity in the year 2500. The game also features visuals, themes and locations inspired by India’s culture and architecture over the years, but with a futuristic twist.
Coming to the gameplay, the trailer features a short segment of a player in first-person mode, the graphics are quite clean and give off a fantasy vibe. We also get multiple shots of mercenaries fighting each other in battle disintegrating into pixels upon death. Of the guns featured in the trailer, the sniper and the pistol are quite impressive as heavy hitters. The studio has previously teased an LMG called “The Devastator” whose rate of fire increases as you hold the trigger.
Overall, the game looks like it has the potential to be the next big thing in the BR genre, and given the fact that the developer is focusing heavily on the story aspects of the game, we can expect that to translate into cosmetics and specials. Events such as battle passes and game modes.
Meanwhile the big question now is whether the game can live up to the promise of a unique experience based on the Indus theme. The question will most likely be answered when the game Indus Battle Royale is expected to launch next year.
Pre-registration for the Indus Battle Royale game on the other hand will go live later this year, so stay tuned for more updates
