Instagram has been one of the most popular social media platforms for a while. The company has been rolling out one feature after another. The latest one is the ability to generate QR codes of profiles to be shared online. The QR codes can be scanned using any camera app.

This new feature could appeal to business owners who rely on Instagram for networking. These QR codes can be printed or shared with potential followers. These QR codes support any camera apps and not just Instagram. After scanning the QR code, a user will be redirected to respective Instagram profiles, where they can follow or just skim the profile.

Earlier the Nametag feature in Instagram served the purpose but the QR codes generated could only be scanned via Instagram. If you did not know, Snapchat had a similar feature called Snapcode since 2015 and now Whatsapp has one too.

To generate a QR code, go to the Menu option on your Instagram profile and click on the QR code. Don’t fret if you cannot see the option. Instagram is rolling out the new feature in stages and it will take some time before it reaches all devices. In addition after creating a QR code, you can choose to customise the background similar to the Nametag feature. The backgrounds vary from different colours to emojis along with an option to set your selfie to be a background. All this can be done by tapping on the emoji option.

This feature was first launched in Japan last year and now it has been rolling out worldwide.
