Instagram Now Allows Users To Request For A Verified Account

Getting a verification for the account is something like a dream come true for many users, as it indicates that the account is authentic. However, social media companies restricted with the celebrities, politicians or brands. Well, if you wished for the for the prestigious tick mark which indicates that the account is verified, then we have a happy news for you. As the popular photo and video sharing app Instagram is now allowing (some) users to request for the verified account.

Yeah, you read a fact. The social networking giant Facebook owned Instagram started to allow the users to request for a verified account, and users can request within the application. Well, this is really a great move by the company. As conspiracies for selling the verified accounts to users will come to an end.

How to request for a verified account

To request the verification badge, you need to head over the ‘Settings’ and find the ‘Request Verification’ section. Well, now you have to provide the username, full name and a government-issued document such as photo ID that shows the full name as well as the date of birth on it. Once you do this, then Instagram will start reviewing your verification request. Hey wait, don’t get excited, as there are some restrictions.

What are the restrictions

Firstly, the social media is still giving the verification badge to the public figure, celebrity or brand. Well, it means the general public like you and me can’t request the prestigious blue tick. Secondly, this option to request for verification is only available to users in Australia, and also for those who own an iPhone. However, It will be rolled out to Android users in coming weeks.
