Few days back popular Indian telecom brands like Airtel & Vi hiked up their prepaid tariff plans up to 20-25% and all eyes were on Jio now. We were expecting Jio to increase the price in coming weeks, but they didn’t took even a week to do the same.
Today, the most popular telecom brand of India Jio has increased the tariff charges of their prepaid plans. The price surge is very similar to what we have seen on the other two telecom brands i.e. 20-25% hike. If we take the example of some famous plans of Jio, the ₹199 plan which used to give 1GB/day of data for 28 days with unlimited calls/messages, is now price at ₹239. Which means an increase of ₹40. Similarly the plan of ₹555 which gives 1.5GB/day for 84 days & unlimited calls/similar, is increased to ₹666.

This was supposed to happen because other brands like Airtel and Vi were having difficulties to earn much profit from the existing plans, and they also need a lot of funding for 5G as well. Jio did the same because TRAI’s new rule bounds them to price the plans similar to other brands. World inflation due to Covid also plays a role here.
This new price hike will be effective from 1st December. So it would be good if you can recharge your Jio prepaid plan before that to save the extra hiked price. Especially those who use the ₹555 plan. Now what are your thoughts on this hike by Jio as well as other major brands? Let us know in the comment section below.
