Huawei’s latest in-house SoC Kirin 820 5G is making buzz a lot lately and with reason. Over the last few weeks, quite a lot of reports have been evidence of how well the new Kirin 820 5G can perform.
Based on Geekbench scores, the Kirin 820 5G can outperform the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 in a single-core test. Not surprisingly it beats Huawei’s own Kirin 980 in both single-thread and multi-thread performance tests.
This might be due to the high performing Cortex-A76 cores being clocked higher than usual. In addition, it could benefit from the highly efficient 7nmarchitecture and could deliver in terms of thermal and battery efficiency as well.
Kirin 850 5G, as the name suggests inbuilt 5G. This mid-range chip also houses improved ISP and NPU for image processing when compared to Kirin 810. The brand new G77 GPU from ARM helps boost the performance up to 140% compared to the G77 GPU.
The Kirin 850 5G is expected to make its debut on Honor 30S in China.
