The popular camera lens maker Leica joined its hand with Sharp to launch its first self-branded smartphone called Leitz Phone 1 in Japan. The partnership continues as now the company has introduced its second smartphone named Leitz Phone 2.
The newly announced Leitz Phone 2 is built on the Sharp Aquos R7 which was introduced this year. The differences between the devices are colorway and software.
Leica Leitz Phone 2 is official with white colour option called ‘Leica White’. The device is also skipping ‘Leica’ branding but the company is using ‘Leitz’ branding. The company is also offering the aluminum lens cap accessory inside the box.
It is running on Android 12 with a customized interface inspired by Leica and the same features a special LFI widget showcasing pictures shot by Leica photographers.
The camera application of the device is also coming with features including ‘Leitz looks’ that stimulate Leica M lenses. The quick settings in the app are based on the Leica camera UI and it is also featuring options to choose Leica M series shutter sound and Leica filters.
Apart from the changes which are mentioned above, everything remains the same as the Sharp Aquos R7. Well, that means you will get a 47.2MP 1-inch image sensor with an f/1.9 lens along with a 1.9MP depth sensor. It is also featuring a 12.6MP front facing camera.
Leica Leitz Phone 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile processor along with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage that can be expandable using a micro SD card.
Regarding the pricing and availability, the Leica Leitz Phone 2 is priced at ¥225,360 and the same will be available in Japan from November 18.
