The South Korean electronics company LG, is full-on working on the home appliances innovation front after shutting down the LG smartphone wing. The latest patent leak reveals the company has been working on a new Rollable OLED TV that features a side rolling screen. This dual-sided rolling mechanism is a step above the LG Rollable TV that we have seen in the past.
The company was awarded a design patent by the Hague International Design System for the new dual-sided Rollable TV concept. The patent titled ‘Television with LG Rollable display’ showcases an elongated speaker resembling OLED TV with rounded sides. The unique factor of this design is that the display on either side can be pulled out and it unrolls from two housing units.
Compared to the previous generation LG Signature OLED TV which rolls out the display from a base this model has a triangular housing that is extended horizontally as opped to a vertical sliding from its predecessor. The display is placed on a T-shaped frame and there is no concrete information about the resolution and size of the TV display. However, the sketches suggest a 16:9 aspect ratio.
If all things go as planned by LG, we might get to see a working prototype in the CES show early next year of LG Rollable.
