Maharashtra has officially signed a Letter of Intent with Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt. Ltd and becomes the first state of the country to collaborate with the company. The new collaboration will be bringing satellite internet to remote and underserved areas of the state.
The project will be focusing on tribal districts including Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Washim, and Dharashiv. It is worth mentioning that these areas have limited or no internet access. After getting the required permissions, Starlink will be offering internet service through its low-Earth orbit satellites.
A joint working group will be managing and observing things for 90 days pilot rollout. The progress will be observed in every 30, 60, and 90 days. The pilot will operate under the direction of the Chief Minister.
