The Google Pixel smartphones are special for at least Android operating system lovers as the devices offer a stock Android experience and Google also offers an amazing camera setup in its Pixel lineup. Well, now we got a new piece of information which is something unusual on Google devices and that is related to a major security problem. So without making any further delay let’s dive into the article to check out the details.
It is reported that an attacker with physical access can bypass the lock screen protections i.e. fingerprint, PIN, etc. and gain complete access to the device. It is worth mentioning that the issue has been fixed in the November security patch for Pixel devices.
The video is showcasing a locked smartphone with biometrics deactivated after few unsuccessful attempts. After changing the SIM, it will ask “Enter SIM PIN” and three incorrect PIN attempts will ask to enter the PUK code.
When you enter a new PIN number after successfully entering the previous one, the phone will unlock. The attacker could just swap the SIM and perform the exploit with a SIM card that had a PIN lock.
So update your Pixel smartphone right now and avoid the risky situation.
