How to make Cortana search on Google and on a preferred browser

With the Windows 10, Microsoft launched Cortana and it is really a great handy feature. Cortana gives all kinds of information at your fingertips, but it forces you to use the Microsoft Edge and Bing. So, in this How-to guide I’ll guide you how to make Cortana search on Google and on a preferred browser.

To make Cortana search on your preferred browser as well as on Google search engine, you have to download (and it will install in background) a third-party software called EdgeDeflector and launch it.

Now go to Cortana and make some search enquiry (until you see ‘Search the web’) and click on the result. Now you’ll see a popup, which will say ‘How do you want to open this?’ choose EdgeDeflector and check ‘Always use the app’. Now you can be able to see your results in the default browser instead of the Microsoft Edge.

Note: If your preferred browser is not your default browser, then make it default.

Now let’s change the Bing search to Google search, for this purpose you need to get a tool called Chrometana (for Chrome browser) or Bing-Google (for Firefox browser).

This tool is actually an extension, which redirects the Bing searches to Google. Just install the extension, and it’ll redirect your search enquiries to the Google instead of Bing.

Note: If you search something manually on the Bing.com, it will be open in the Google because of the extension. So, if you want to search within the Bing, then disable the extension.
