Artificial intelligence is now everywhere and now the popular mobile chipset maker MediaTek has collaborated with the popular Chinese smartphone maker Oppo to bring a lightweight large model edge deployment solution. Moreover, the Chinese smartphone maker has also introduced the beta version of Xiao Bu 1.0, which is based on the AndesGPT large model.
The new collaboration is basically to bring artificial intelligence to local devices instead on the cloud. It is actually the future and the same will provide lots of improvements in the mobile experience as well. The new setup can able to reduce latency, along with improvements in privacy and offline functionality. Common Edge AI applications include autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, smart cameras, healthcare, retail, smart cities, agriculture, energy management, IoT devices, NLP, robotics, and gaming/AR/VR.
The partnership between MediaTek and OPPO will be working around MediaTek’s AI processor, APU, and the AI development platform, NeuroPilot, which together create an ecosystem for terminal-side AI and generative AI computation. The partnership will also push OPPO’s AndesGPT and the same implements 4-bit quantization technology to maintain high accuracy.
