Key Points:
- Microsoft Edge is flagging Chrome setup as harmful.
- There is no official statement about the same.
- Microsoft has already tried various methods to promote its own web browser.
Microsoft is offering a built in web browser in its operating system called the Microsoft Edge and the company has tried various methods to attract more users to the browser. We already reported that Microsoft made things hard to switch the default browser to keep users on its own web browser.
Now it feels that the company is playing another game as it is reported that the browser is flagging ChromeSetup.exe, the installation file for Google Chrome, as potentially harmful. This problem was spotted one out of five Microsoft Edge 116 stable installations. Edge’s built-in security feature is meant to protect users from harmful files but now it seems that the feature is incorrectly identified ChromeSetup.exe as a threat.
There is no official statement about the same and we believe that Microsoft has fixed the problem as well. Do let us know whether you find the problem in the comments section below and stay tuned with us for more updates from the world of technology.
