The computers that are running on the Windows 11 operating system are facing a serious problem as the computers are refusing to boot and the keyboard and mouse are becoming unresponsive, and it is a problem that is occurring after the October update and many people are facing this particular problem. Microsoft has responded and released a new emergency update to fix this particular issue.
What is the issue?
The problem started after the update of KB5066835, rolled out earlier this month. It is actually breaking the support for USB keyboards and mouse inside WinRE — the part of Windows that kicks in when something goes wrong, like failed startups, malware cleanup, or system resets. In the absence of input devices, users are stucking on the recovery screen.
Reports instantly spread across Reddit and Microsoft’s support forums, with some desperate users digging out ancient PS/2 keyboards or pairing Bluetooth devices.
Now Microsoft has officially released a new update KB5070773 and it is currently available via Windows Update and the Microsoft Update Catalog. The update will be restoring the USB functionality in WinRE for Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and Windows Server 2025.
So update your PC now and fix the critical problem. Do let us know whether you faced the problem in the comments section below.
