Satellite communication is now a common connectivity option in premium devices and now the South Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced that the company is expanding the satellite communication option to Galaxy smartphones across the world. The feature will enable your device to stay connected even when there is no cellular signal or Wi-Fi connectivity. Samsung has also confirmed that the company is collaborating with major mobile phone carriers and satellite companies to offer Galaxy phones send messages and data via satellite.
In North America, the South Korean company is working with T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T. Samsung has also collaborated with AT&T to support satellite communication. T-Mobile supports satellite-based T911 (T-Satellite service, which allows users to send text messages to 911 via Starlink satellites), along with text and data services with the partnership of Starlink, and this has been available on select Galaxy A and Galaxy S phones since 2025.
Verizon is also offering emergency SOS (eSOS) and text services on supported Galaxy flagship models, including the Galaxy S25 Series and the newly launched Galaxy S26 Series. Coming to Europe, the company has collaborated with Virgin Media O2 in the United Kingdom to bring satellite connectivity to Galaxy S25 and S26 Series smartphones. The company is also working with MasOrange in Spain and Samsung is also collaborating with Vodafone to enable satellite communications across compatible Galaxy devices in the region.
While in Japan, the company has collaborated with KDDI, SoftBank, Docomo and Rakuten Mobile to expand satellite-based text, data and emergency alert services across compatible Galaxy devices. Satellite-based data, texting, and tsunami warning (ETWS) services have been available on Galaxy S22 (and newer) and select Galaxy A phones on KDDI’s network since 2025.
