We are continuously seeing a variety of new technology/product by multiple OEMs. But seems like many OEMs has forgotten 1 area of technology i.e. Modularity. But seems like one OEM still remembers this tech i.e. Motorola. Following it’s journey of MotoMods in 2016, Motorola is still focusing a lot on their MotoMod technology. Now at CES 2018 event, they have new MotoMods to showcase.
At CES 2018, Motorola has unveiled two new MotoMods. These two MotoMods are Slider Keyboard Mod, and Vital Mod. 1st let’s talk about Slider Keyboard. As the name suggests, this is a physical keyboard which we used in previous feature phones and BlackBerry smartphones. But this one’s is larger and can be adjustable upto 60°, which means that we can set the phone upto 60° angle for better convenience. This MotoMod is made by Livermorium, the winner of 1st ‘Transform the Smartphone Challenge’.

Now talking about another mod i.e. Vital MotoMod, this is an health related MotoMod. We can check various signs like heart rate, Pulse OX, core body temperature and respiratory rate. It would be helpful for those who have heart or lung disease. You just need to put the fingerprint at the Mod and it will detect all measurements. This Mod is made by Lenovo.
Below is the pricing and availability information:
- Slider Keyboard MotoMod is priced at $99 (₹6,304) and will be available later this winter i.e. Q1 of 2018.
- Vital MotoMod is priced at $395 (₹25,150) and will be available in April.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally speaking, this Vital MotoMod is very overpriced at $395, anyone can certainly buy a good new smartphone at this price. But the Slider Keyboard one looks & priced interesting. Now what are your thoughts on this ? Do let me know in the comments below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
