The world’s most favourite streaming platform Netflix was facing revenue drop and the same was mainly because of the trend of sharing passwords with friends and relatives. As me know that the platform finds revenue by offering its various subscription plans which users need to renew after the validity. However, people purchase plan and share it with their friends and relatives which affects the revenue of Netflix.
Netflix was trying various methods to stop the password sharing set up between its users and now the company has find a solid formula that will be implemented in the first quarter of this year as well.
According to a post on the Netflix FAQ page, you can share your Netflix password with people who are living in a single household and if people do not leave in the same house then the primary account holder need to use their own account to watch Netflix. It seems that Netflix will ask additional amount to share a single account password across various locations.
Now if you ask what will happen while you travelling or you are having a new device that is associated with the primary account and the same is in a separate location. Well, Netflix will ask a temporary 4-digit verification code and the company will grant to use the account for 7 days only.
It is also said that if you use your primary device while travelling then you will have no problem accessing Netflix in other locations as well. Moreover, you need to connect to a Wi-Fi from your primary location, which would be your home, at least once every 31 days.
So it is clear that password sharing outside the home is really complicated and this method could help Netflix to stop password sharing scenarios completely.
