Qualcomm officially introduced the flagship processor dubbed Snapdragon 8 Elite last year and today the chipset maker has officially launched a new version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile processor. So let’s get into the article to check out the full details.
Everything about the new version of Snapdragon 8 Elite
The latest Snapdragon 8 Elite variant comes with similar clock speeds to the original variant but the latest version features a slightly unusual 2+5 core setup, and the same is combining Prime and Performance cores for the processing duties.
This version of the processor is cutting one Performance core that means the new processor features seven CPU cores including two Prime cores clocked at up to 4.32 GHz and five Performance cores clocked at up to 3.53 GHz. It is worth mentioning that the original variant of the processor has eight cores.
Apart from missing the one core, the rest of the specifications are unchanged. The new processor is also built on a 3nm fabrication process and the chipset comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF system and Hexagon NPU.
The processor also comes with the Qualcomm AI Engine with support for multiple Gen AI models, AI-based ISP, AI-optimised 5G and Wi-Fi 7, real-time Hardware-Accelerated Ray Tracing with Global Illumination, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless audio, Quick Charge 5 tech, and much more.
It is expected that the upcoming Oppo Find N5 will be the first phone to feature the new version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
