We are just two days before the launch of Xiaomi Mi8 smartphone, and we are in the final stage of its leaks. Talking about previous rumors, there was a strong rumor that this device will be Xiaomi’s first device to have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now today’s leak almost confirms that whether this phone will have in-display fingerprint sensor or not. Also, we got a leak which reveals a new interesting feature on Mi8, that too first for any Xiaomi device. So let’s have a look at both the leaks.
Starting with the new feature, a new leak suggests that Xiaomi Mi8 will have its own Animoji support. Which means now Mi8 users can make emoji based short clips based on their facial expressions. As you can see from this video and the image below, you will see that there few Xiaomi’s own animated faces acting as animoji. We have already seen some of these in many Xiaomi posters. If this features will actually exist, then surely Xiaomi will highlight the AI thing in the launch event and on social media as well.
Now let’s talk about another leak which reveals the truth about the in-display fingerprint sensor. As you can see from the image below, you will see that a bunch of Mi8 posters are there which shows the design of this device. Few things to notice here are the notch on the display, glass back with curved edges, vertically aligned dual camera setup, and the fingerprint sensor at the back, Yes, the regular round shaped fingerprint sensor is present at the back and it proves that Mi8 will not have the highly rumored in-display fingerprint sensor.
Now the third leak says that both Mi8 and Mi8 SE (SE will be an upgraded storage variant of Mi8, just for marketing purpose) will have better rear cameras as compared to Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, companies most premium phone as of now. The funny thing here is what’s this third leak is all about? Everyone knows that every flagship camera will be better as compared to previous phones. So what’s new here and is it even a leak? You guys tell me in the comment section below.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. With this leak of Mi8 posters, my excitement level for the device is decreased a bit because even I was quite excited to see in-display fingerprint sensor on Mi8. But looking at Xiaomi’s side, it’s good to see that they didn’t implement it just due to the sake of latest technology. It’s better to test the feature completely before placing it in the device. We might get 1 or 2 more leaks before the launch that’s happening on 31st May. So stay tuned with us for more information.
