We all know that OnePlus is the faster Android phone out there and the only Android phone which gives head to head competition to iPhone in terms of app opening speed, etc. Even the two and half-year-old OnePlus 3 is still snappy to use. Major credit goes to the OxygenOS software team, who optimize the UI so brilliantly. But apart from great software optimization, powerful hardware also plays an important role to give that unmatchable speed.
That’s why OnePlus is using the speediest UFS 2.1 type of internal storage right from OnePlus 3. With the launch of OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, the Warp Charge replaced the older yet very faster Dash Charge technology, which was again first used with OnePlus 3. So looks like OnePlus is planning to upgrade the storage mechanism with their upcoming smartphones, and this leak is all about that. So let’s have a look.
A new leak reveals that the upcoming OnePlus smartphone will have the latest UFS 3.0 storage type. The UFS 3.0 was unveiled last year but no smartphone has this as of now. According to the leakster’s benchmark result, this storage gives significantly higher results in terms of read and write storage speeds. At the time of launch it was claims that UFS 3.0 will be 2x faster than UFS 2.1 , but in reality it’s more than 2x faster than UFS 2.1 on OnePlus 6T. Below are the benchmark results of both UFS storage types. (Left : Upcoming Oneplus, Right : OnePlus 6T)

So that’s all the information we have as of now. As we don’t have any news of UFS 3.0 support on Galaxy S10 series, we are expecting that next OnePlus smartphone, probably that 5G smartphone, will be the first smartphone to have this storage type. It will be interesting to see what will be the experience of UFS 3.0 storage along with OxygenOS optimisation. Stay tuned with us for more information.
