Two months back Nokia unveiled their flagship phone Nokia 8, which comes with premium specifications like Dual Camera and Snapdragon 835 processor. Talking about the Nokia line-up, the smartphone which comes below the Nokia 8 is Nokia 6, which comes with Snapdragon 435. So there’s a lot of difference between both the phones. Now to make a balance between both these phones, Nokia surprisingly unveiled its premium mid-range smartphone, Nokia 7. This phone has some premium looks and latest specs. So let’s have a look at them.
1st let’s talk about the design, this Nokia 7 comes with a vacuum molded 3D glass with Gorilla Glass protection, 1st for any HMD Nokia phone. The phone looks more premium than Nokia 8 from the back, but at the front, it clearly looks like a mid-range due to thick bezels from top & bottom. The front is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Both front & back glasses are connected by a 7000 series aluminum frame. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back, which is 1st for any HMD Nokia phone. All these are protected by IP54 certification for splash resistance.
Now talking about the specifications, this Nokia 7 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz based on 14nm process & Adreno 508 GPU. It sports a 5.2” Full HD 1080p IPS LCD display. It has 4GB & 6GB RAM variants, with 64GB of internal storage on both variants with MicroSd Card slot. The Rear Camera is a Carl Zeiss 16MP shooter with f1.8 lens, PDAF and Dual Tone LED flash, while the front camera is a 5MP shooter with f2.0 lens. It also has that bothie feature like Nokia 8, through which we can take photos using front & rear camera simultaneously.
The Nokia 7 comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with their own skin, as this is the Chinese unit. Nokia has promised Android Oreo update for this device. It packs a 3000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Connectivity wise this phone has 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, WiFi, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C Port. This phone will be available in two colour options: Black and White.
Below are the details for the pricing and availability of this Nokia 7:
- 4GB RAM variant is priced at 2499 Yuan (Rs.24,500 / $377 approximately)
- 6GB RAM variant is priced at 2699 Yuan (Rs.26,500 / $407 approximately)
- Pre-orders are currently running in China, will go on sale from 24th October.
- No information about the availability in other regions.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. The phone looks a bit expensive but if the phone will be priced a little more aggressively in countries like USA & India, then it will become a big hit. But it’s nice to see that Nokia finally launched a proper premium mid-range device, and made a gap between flagship Nokia 8 and mid-range Nokia 6. What are your thoughts on this Nokia 7 ?
