From Android Marshmallow 6.0, Google provides backup facility which allows us to backup stuff like Wi-Fi password, apps data, call history, device settings and more. Which is really handy especially when you formatted or change the device, as with the help of backup you can easily get back your stuffs. But now a new report suggests that Google will remove all the backups after a certain period of time, if your device sit idle.
A user of Reddit, Tanglebrook took to the Android subreddit to let others know about the unfortunate policy of the search engine giant. The user who reported the situation, was not able use his Nexus 6P for few months, due to a faulty battery. With only an iPhone to use in the meantime, the backups got expired.
Well, we can’t blame the Mountain View company because in its support documents the company has mentioned that your backups will be deleted at some point. If you don’t use your device for the period of two weeks, you will start to see a countdown in your Google Drive where are the whole backups are saved. You can reset the countdown by switch on your device, but if you are a person who cannot able to switch on your device then you will miss your backup forever.
So, at this point of time I want to say that Google should increase the time limit because no one can purchase a new device instantly. Especially, the people who lives in a developing country.
