We have already updated you that the WhatsApp developers were testing the mention feature for WhatsApp Status, which works similarly to how we tag someone on Instagram Story. Now the developers have released the feature in the stable version of WhatsApp. The mention feature is available on both the regular WhatsApp application and WhatsApp Business application.
Once you upload a status on your WhatsApp account, you need to type @ followed by the name of your friend. For example, @TechnoBugg. The contact name will appear on a list, and you need to tap on the name. That contact will receive a notification, which will notify them that you mentioned them on your status.
It is worth mentioning that you can be able to mention up to 5 members on the status at the moment of time but we believe that the limit will expand very soon in the near future.
