Nubia, a sub-venture of chinese multi-national ZTE has launched their new smartphone in India. It is worth saying that this device was earlier announced in March along with the Nubia M2 and the M2 lite.
The device comes with a full metal unibody design in 2 color variants champagne gold and black gold. The display is a 720p OLED panel with the pixels being spread over the 5.5″ forming a pixel density of 267ppi.
However, the major boost to the specs and what may be termed as a USP of the device comes in the form of optics and the battery. This one features a 16megapixel front facing camera with Samsung’s 3P3ST sensor with an f/2.0 aperture with 80° wide angle lens. The primary camera is a 13megapixel shooter which is a Sony IMX258 sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 , Phase detection auto focus (PDAF) and a dual-LED flash. The battery is a mammoth 5000mAh Lithium polymer cell which also supports quick charging.
The major bummer for the device lies in the internals. The device is powered by a Mediatek MT6750 octa-core SOC which has 4Ă—cortex A53 clocked at 1.5GHz and 4Ă—Cortex A53 clocked at 1GHz. For your information, Mediatek chipsets are traditionally known for their laggy performance and random heating issues. But what adds to the insult is that it still runs on Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow, an outdated version of android.
Apart from the above said specifications, the N2 also comes with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB on-board storage with support for expansion via the hybrid dual sim slot.Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.
Verdict:
The Nubia N2 is priced at ₹15,999 and is available on Amazon India right now. For the price, the specifications should have been a notch better in our opinion especially the CPU and Software. However if you’re a selfie junkie and hardcore user this device makes some sense for a moment.
