If you are a gamer chances are that you know how important the experience should be. Nubia knows this and is planning to help you with it. The upcoming Nubia Red Magic 5S smartphone will work as a gaming controller and let you cast the display on to a bigger screen. The company is presenting this smartphone tomorrow as a gaming smartphone.
Red Magic 5S can be used as a console giving a new level of experience for android gamers. The smartphone will come with a low-latency wireless connection thus enabling the users to cast the display onto a bigger screen like TV where the smartphone can be used as a controller. The team has designed six controller styles to match whatever game you prefer. In addition, there will be customisation options that let you tune the controller layout to your liking.
In a teaser, Nubia showed that this feature will support 4K resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. You might be able to pull it off if your TV supports HDMI 2.1. We think they will provide an accessory that you should hook to your TV and connect the Red Magic 5S wirelessly to it. The device will also support a 240Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, the shoulder buttons on the side of the smartphone should be able to attain a touch sampling rate of 320 Hz.
To achieve this level of gaming, Nubia might resort to overclocking the Snapdragon 855+ but still, we are curious on how they plan to achieve it. Nubia might not provide a 144 Hz refresh rate and higher resolution simultaneously given the hardware limitations. This makes it identical to Nubia’s own Red Magic 5G which features 144 Hz refresh rate and 1080P resolution. The company is taking care of the thermals by featuring an active cooling solution inside the smartphone. If the rumours are right, they will also sell an external fan in the name of Cooling Magic Box as an additional accessory. This will prevent thermal throttling and ensure smooth gaming performance for longer periods of time.
We will find out more details about the Nubia Red Magic tomorrow, so stay tuned.
