One-Touch Phone Case from Oppo Packs the World's First UWB Chip to Control Smart Home Appliances

The Chinese smartphone company Oppo has launched the world’s first accessory that comes with Ultra-wideband (UWB) inbuilt. The company is calling it OPPO One-Touch Phone Case Set. The case also has another use and it is designed to interact with smart home appliances.

Using the UWB chip inside the smartphone case improves the spatial awareness of the smartphone helping it to interact with smart devices. This case comes in a Galaxy Gray colour and has a smooth texture. The company will supply a one-key identity sticker, which will establish a connection with the smart devices and the smartphone allowing real-time control. This sticker will have a two-tone finish and water ripple design.

The sticker will feature an indicator light that will act as a status prompt. It comes with a USB-C interface for charging and a magnetic surface allowing users to stick it easily on surfaces. The smartphone case comes in three modes –  Switch, Control Card, and Startup. All the user needs to do is point the smartphone with the case on towards the respective appliance and double click on the back of the smartphone to perform desired actions.

If you go with the Switch mode, you can turn ON/OFF the device and the control mode will present a control page with multiple functions to pick from. The final scene mode executes a set of pre-defined actions. The UWB or Ultra-wideband is connected with the help of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It consumes less power and presents limitless possibilities. It used antenna-based communication and can work even at 15-metre distances.
