So far the year 2019 is all about three things; Foldable Smartphones, 5G support, and 48MP camera sensor. The same thing applies to the MWC event as well. Almost every brand’s event has one of these three things for sure, most foldable phone and 5G. OnePlus is not different from them, as today’s event is all about 5G.
OnePlus has actually showcased their 5G smartphone at the event. But its showcased in such a way that we can’t see anything except the display, not even the side bezels and rear camera setup. Regarding display, this seems to be a display with 21:9 aspect ratio. Well seems like this 21:9 aspect ratio might become a future trend because right after the Sony event where they unveiled the smartphones with this new ratio, OnePlus also did the same. Also, the guys at techradar, who provided the image given below, compared the display of this OnePlus device with Galaxy S10 Plus, and they didn’t notice much difference between the clarity of both displays. So this indicates to a Quad HD resolution, which will be first time for OnePlus!!
Talking about the foremost thing of this event, OnePlus said that this smartphone will have Qualcomm’s X50 modem. And as it is using X50 mode, this phone will come with Snapdragon 855 processor. OnePlus said that this smartphone will get launched in Europe in second quarter of this year. They are partnering with Finnish cellular company ‘Elisa’ due to the fact that it is amongst the first company to bring 5G networks. OnePlus also mentioned that the same device won’t get launched in USA and other countries, but a non 5G variant with some minor changes will be announced later. That’s because USA and other regions don’t have appropriate 5G networks.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I personally think that the non-5G variant of this device might be OnePlus 7, which is supposed to get unveiled in second quarter as well. Do you also think that this will be OnePlus 7? Or OnePlus 7 will be a totally different smartphone? Let us know in the comment section below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
