The OnePlus 6T is expected to launch on October 17, and we already came through various leaks of the device which revealed that the device will come with lots of improvements than the OnePlus 6. The company also confirmed that the device will come with the in-display fingerprint scanner, and today the company confirms another information and that says the device will not have the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The Co-Founder 0f OnePlus, Carl Pei confirmed that the company has decided to ditch the 3.5 mm headphone jack from their next smartphone. But Pei did not mention the name of the 6T, however, we can safely assume that 6T will not come with 3.5 mm headphone jack because it is the “next OnePlus handset”.
Furthermore, Pei also explains the reason behind the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and it is to gain some extra space inside the device, and it will help the company to implement a new technology. He did not revealed the name of the new technology which is going to debut in the device, but the company already confirmed earlier, as the device will come with the in-display fingerprint scanner. Well, that maybe because he don’t want to make repeat things.
Pei also said that there is another benefit of removing the headphone jack and it is an improved battery life, as ditching the headphone jack from the device, and the company can accommodate a bit larger battery which will give more battery life. He also claimed that the difference would be “substantial enough for users to realize”. That’s not all, he also says that this is the perfect time to ditch the headphone jack as 59% of OnePlus’ community owned wireless headphones.
Having said that, Pei also confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will also have a bundled along with a USB Type-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter and it will allow users to continue using the old earphones with the upcoming device.
Well, things are getting more interesting and we are excited to see the device. We hope to get more information in the coming days. By the way, what are your thoughts about the new move by the OnePlus??? Do let us know in the comments section below!
