Few weeks before when OnePlus held their event in India, we expected that OnePlus will launch both OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro, along with OnePlus TV. But there wasn’t a single talk about the 7T Pro at the event. A few days earlier the company announced that they will unveil the Pro variant on 10th October, along with the launch of regular 7T in the European market. So as promised, here is the OnePlus 7T Pro. Let’s find out the upgrades it got from its predecessor launch months ago.
Design:
The OnePlus 7T Pro looks almost identical to its predecessor. It has a full view display without any notch. There’s the same pop-up selfie camera as 7 Pro. The button placements are exactly same. At the back, we can still see the same triple camera setup placed vertically. It’s good that the camera layout is not like OnePlus 7T which we reviewed recently, because many find that not so good looking. But now in the left of the camera setup we can see laser autofocus system. Also, the back glass now has a matte finish with Haze Blue colour. So it just got two minor changes which are actually good, one in terms of functionality and other for looks.
Specifications:
This OnePlus 7T Pro sports the same 6.67 inch Fluid AMOLED display with Quad HD+ (3120×1440) resolution and 516 pixel density (ppi). It’s an HDR10+ supported display along with 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. It still has the same 90hz refresh rate making the user experience fluid. This device comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ octa core processor clocked at 2.96Ghz and has higher clocked Adreno 640 GPU. There’s 8GB of RAM with 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. It runs on latest Android 10 out of the box with OxygenOS 10 on top.
Moving to the camera department, it still retains pretty similar setup as OnePlus 7 Pro. The primary camera is the 48MP Sony IMX568 lens sensor with f1.6 aperture, 0.8μm pixel size, PDAF, EIS and OIS. There’s also laser autofocus system, which is the only change in hardware between 7 Pro and this one. Then there’s the same 8MP Telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, f2.4 aperture, 1.0μm pixel size, PDAF, EIS and OIS. Lastly there’s 16MP Wide Angle lens with f2.2 aperture. Sadly there’s no stabilization for wide angle lens. The Nightscape mode, portrait mode, and new Macro mode are available here. On the front there’s the same 16MP camera with f2.0 lens and EIS. So basically the camera on OnePlus 7T Pro is sort of unchanged.
This smartphone packs in a slightly larger 4085mAh battery with new Warp Charge 30T fast charging, which can charge 70% battery in 30 minutes. For security, there’s an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock. It has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. For better gaming, it has Gaming Mode 3.0, Fnatic Mode, and improved haptic vibration. For connectivity, it has 4G VoLTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, aptX HD, and Type-C port. It weighs at 206 grams and is 8.8mm thin.
OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition:
As teased earlier OnePlus also launched a special McLaren Edition of 7T Pro in partnership with McLaren. This one also has a glass back but with carbon fibre design and has orange colour accent around the corners and power button. It gives a completely different look to the device as compared to the regular variant. In terms of specs it has 12GB of RAM with the same 256GB of internal storage as regular 7T Pro. Apart from this, all specs are same on both. This McLaren Edition also gets special wallpapers, icons, always-on display designs, and McLaren branded special case.
Pricing & Availability:
- OnePlus 7T Pro European Price – €760
- OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition European Price – €860
- OnePlus 7T Pro Indian Price – ₹53,999
- OnePlus7T Pro McLaren Edition Indian Price – ₹58,999

So that’s the OnePlus 7T Pro. Personally I feel this is just a minor upgrade with very minimal differences here & there. So if you are getting OnePlus 7 Pro at a discounted price, go for it rather than this one. But if the 7 Pro isn’t available in your region, then surely you will get a nice and slightly better experience with it. Now, what are your thoughts on the OnePlus 7T Pro and it’s McLaren Edition?
