OnePlus 8 Pro bagged an A+ Rating for its display, breaking thirteen records. So, when devices started showing display issues, the news spread like wildfire. After all the reviews and hype, the devices began shipping and reached users in the UK from April 21, with the US shipping date set to April 29.
Soon after, the first batch of users is reporting display issues on the OnePlus 8 Pro. There are a few reports on the OnePlus community forums about a green tint over the displays in low brightness. A fix for the issue as discovered by other users suggests turning on “DC Dimming” under the “OnePlus Laboratory” option. Unfortunately, enabling this feature leads to another issue. DC Dimming causes blacks to appear faded. The “crushed black” produces greyish colours, as seen in some cheap LCD display phones.
Following the news breakout, OnePlus spokesperson told GSMArena that, the issue is under investigation and that they are working on a fix to be released via OTA updates soon. They also confirmed that enabling DC Dimming works as a temporary fix.
“OnePlus values user feedback and is committed to delivering the best smartphone experience. Our team is currently investigating these reports to identify the best solutions for our users, and we will issue updates as soon as they are ready. Regarding the green tint, we are working to resolve this in our next OTA”, states OnePlus spokesperson.
With the OnePlus 8 Pro, the company aims to reaffirm a spot in the premium segment, and this might be a minor setback for them. Given the track record of OnePlus, the users can rest easy. as a fix will make it to devices sooner or later
