Few years ago, some OEMs tried to fool people by adjusting the software & processor to increase the clock speed to full while running benchmarks, some even optimised there software in the way that thee phone can get a lot higher score in benchmarks. Big OEMs like Samsung and HTC also cheated people like this earlier. From one or two years, we aren’t getting to know about these kind of cases but recently two OEMs are doing this cheat. Those OEMs are OnePlus and Meizu. Some developers from XDA forum have found this problem by OnePlus & Meizu. The devices in which these OEMs have done this are OnePlus 3/3T and Meizu pro 6. Let’s first talk about OnePlus.
XDA developers found that when any benchmark app is opened, Oxygen OS detects it and increase all there clock speed even when not required. The clock speed has been raised to the max throughout the whole time when the app is opened, even when you are not performing benchmarks test. We can’t say it has fraud because they are only increasing the clock speed to it’s full range. When asked about this from OnePlus, they said that the programmed there Oxygen OS in that manner. Shen any heavy task happens in the phone, they increase the clock speed to it’s max level to give better performance than other competitors. OnePlus has said that they will fix this with there upcoming Oxygen OS OTA updates for OnePlus 3/3T.
