After a lot of leaks and rumours, OnePlus has finally launched the successor of it’s Premium Mid-range Nord series, the OnePlus Nord 2. Last year’s Nord was a great success commercially, although the users faced some quality control issues and software bugs. And that’s why people have high hopes from the Nord 2. Because if it fails to deliver what it promise, the Nord series will be a failure. Does OnePlus justified the hardware of Nord 2 for it’s price? Let’s find out.
- Design :
The OnePlus Nord 2 has a similar design as the OnePlus 9 which was launched few months back. The front has a 6.44 inch display (slightly smaller the original 9) with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. There’s a small punch hole front camera at the top left, similar to last year’s Nord but it’s smaller as the secondary wide angle selfie camera is omitted now. The back panel is also made up of glass and comes with 4 different color options i.e. Blue Haze, Grey Sierra, and India exclusive Green Woods. It has Type-C port, Alert Slider, Stereo Speakers, and other regular ports/buttons like Power & Volume buttons and multiple microphones. It weighs at 189 grams and is 8.3mm thick.
- Specifications :
Coming to what’s inside the Nord 2, it’s powered by Mediatek’s Dimensity 1200-AI 5G processor with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. It’s a flagship grade chipset by Mediatek which is present on Realme X7 Max. And it’s custom tuned by that’s why it has that “AI” in the name. It has 6/8/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage optiins. As I mentioned earlier, it has 6.44 inch display which is a Fluid AMOLED Full HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate and support for HDR10+ and Always-On as well.
On the Camera side, it gets 50MP Sony IMX 766 main camera with f1.9 aperture, 1.0um sensor size, PDAF, EIS & OIS. This is the same sensor found on OnePlus 9 Pro. The secondary camera is pretty midrange 8MP wide angle lens with 119° FOV. Lastly there’s 2MP useless macro camera. On the front there’s 32MP sensor with f2.5 aperture. Video recording via main sensor is up to 4K 30fps, ultra wide and front sensor at 1080p 30fps.
It packs in a 4,500mAh battery with super fast 65W charging support. The phone comes with the compatible charger in the box, a plus point. It has under display optical fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers. Connectivity wise there’s 5G with 7 bands, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, aptX & aptX HD, LDAC, GPS, and Type-C port.
- OnePlus Buds Pro :
OnePlus has also launched the new TWS earphones with high quality sound and features, the OnePlus Buds Pro. These buds have Adaptive Noise Cancellation support up to 40dB of surrounding noise. It has 11mm driver with support of Dolby Atmos. Each bud can hold up to 10 hours with ANC turned off, and the fully charged case can give extra 33 hours of listening. It can be charged quickly with Type-C cable or Qi Wireless Charging. It has Bluetooth 5.2 and with that it can touch 94ms latency level. It’s IP55 certified for dust and water resistance.

- OnePlus Nord 2 5G will be available in Europe & India from 28th July, no update about USA.
- OnePlus Buds Pro will be available in Europe from 25th August, in USA from 1st September, and Indian pricing/availability will be announced soon.
