OnePlus has been around for six years and has grown to become one of the most liked smartphone brand in India. They enjoy a fan base who is very loyal and is happy recommending OnePlus phones to peers. One of the main reasons the company is enjoying such a position is because of the software experience it offers via OxygenOS. Its also one of the few brands which roll out software updates to its older generation of devices. Following this tradition, OnePlus is rolling out a new feature to quite a lot of its devices.
According to reports, OnePlus is planning to roll out a new feature called Floating Windows to its devices via a software update. OnePlus phones starting from OnePlus 6 Series to the new OnePlus 8 Series is getting the new Floating Windows feature in its gaming mode. It will even make it to the company’s latest budget offering, the OnePlus Nord. This information was revealed by the company via its FAQ page, which was made in August. According to the statement, they have also narrowed the area for “swipe inward from the edge to go back” gesture in editing scenarios to prevent miss-touch issues.
Along with these improvements the new OxygenOS will also have a slew of bug fixes for the OnePlus 7 Series and upwards. The FAQ points that the Floating Window feature can be accessed through gaming tools box, which is an update to the Game Space app. The new feature will make its debut in the beta of OxygenOS which is set to be rolled out starting with the OnePlus 7 Series. This will be followed by roll out on other models.
Speaking of the Floating Window feature, it will let OnePlus users access applications like Whatsapp or Instagram to stay in loop with the notifications and messages, while playing games. Notably, the feature was already present in the OnePlus phones inside the Developer Settings under “Enable freeform windows” option.
OnePlus is also fixing other issues like overlapping of characters when using the ambient display option on the OnePlus 8 Series along with polishing the extended screenshot functionality, which has been rolled out to OnePlus 7 and 7T series via the latest OxygenOS beta version. Finally the latest beta release alsocontains the fix for an issue that caused the File Manager to not show documents downloaded from some apps.
