As the consumers are getting aware of the need of software support in smartphones, OEMs are slowly but steadily improving their software hand. Example is that some OEMs are even ditching their custom UI and moving towards pure Android. One thing where most of the OEMs are improper is in providing the software support timeline. But OnePlus is not like these OEMs.
As now OnePlus has released their software maintenance schedule. This schedule gives a detailed information in the update cycles of OnePlus smartphones. So the company has decided to give two years of regular software updates, which includes Android updates, new features, bug fixes, and Android security patches. After two years, OnePlus is providing extra one year of security patch updates that will roll out once in two months. Below are the devices on which is scheduled will be applied:
- OnePlus 3
- OnePlus 3T
- OnePlus 5
- OnePlus 5T
- OnePlus 6
If this schedule will not be changed, the software support of future smartphones will be scheduled same. Now coming to the two-year-old OnePlus 3 series, both OnePlus 3 and 3T will get regular software updates till November 2018. OnePlus 3 is getting more than two years of support because the company said that both 3 & 3T will get equal software updates. And both devices will get security updates till November 2019.
Talking about Open Beta, OnePlus haven’t mentioned exact time period of Open Beta support in a device, but they mentioned that OnePlus 3 and 3T will get their last Open Beta update later this week. And a stable software update in Early July so that all Open Beta testers can revert back to stable OxygenOS.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I personally feel that OnePlus is going in a good way of providing enough software support even to their older devices (OnePlus 2 is an exception). OnePlus is now in one of those rare lists of OEMs who are very transparent in terms of software support schedule. Share your thoughts on this schedule in the comments below.

Amazing! This blog looks just like my old
one! It’s on a entirely different topic but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Wonderful choice of colors!
Thanks to my father who informed me on the topic of this webpage, this weblog is really awesome.
Have you ever considered publishing an ebook or
guest authoring on other sites? I have a blog centered on the same information you discuss and
would really like to have you share some stories/information. I know my readers would enjoy your work.
If you are even remotely interested, feel free to shoot me an e mail.
You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this
matter to be actually something that I think I would never
understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me.
I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang
of it!
Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it
to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear
and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had
to tell someone!
of course like your web-site however you need to take a look at the
spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife
with spelling issues and I in finding it very troublesome to inform the
reality then again I will surely come back again.
Spot on with this write-up, I really believe this amazing site needs much more attention. I’ll
probably be back again to read more, thanks for the advice!
