From past few years OnePlus is increasing the pricing alongside the quality of their smartphones. They went from a plastic sandstone back to metal to glass now. They went from single camera to dual and hopefully triple with their upcoming series. What’s not present till now is IP rating for water resistance. There are expectations that upcoming upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro will have IP rating because of the ‘Pro’ tag.
Today, OnePlus shared a new teaser that shows the water resistance capabilities of the upcoming device. The videos says that the water resistance rating will cost the customers, and that’s why they are bringing something less expensive with their upcoming device. This indicates that OnePlus is not in a mood to spend some extra bucks to get IP rating for upcoming OnePlus 7 series, but they have something equal to the IP rating.

Carl Pie, Co-founder of OnePlus, discussed a lot more in this teaser on OnePlus forum. He says that IP rating is one of the easiest way to prove their smartphone’s water resistance capabilities, but they want to give actual experience rather than ratings. That’s why OnePlus posted this video to give an idea to the resistance capabilities of their smartphones. He also mentioned not to try this with your existing OnePlus phone, or even the upcoming smartphone in the future.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I think it’s good if OnePlus is not getting the IP ratings because this will increase the price of their smartphones. But if OnePlus 7 Pro will be priced according to the leaks, then they should give IP rating for the amount being charged for this ‘Pro’ smartphones. What are your thoughts on this?
