OneTag is officially launched in India and the same will enable FASTag users to switch banks without replacing this sticker which is installed on the vehicle. It is a big relief and stress free process.
The newly announced OneTag system is actually launched by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai and as I have mentioned above, OneTag will enable you to get the same FASTag, Tag ID, and vehicle registration number while moving their FASTag service from one bank to another.
This will be available through the Rajmargyatra mobile application and several banks have alaready joined the system, including SBI, ICICI Bank, and Airtel Payments Bank. You have to open the application and simply check whether the existing FASTag is eligible for portability.
Then you can able to provide the consent for portability and select a participating issuer bank. After completing the verification and onboarding process with the new bank, the selected issuer will take over the FASTag service and you don’t have to replace the sticker.
It is worth mentioning that the pending transactions, refunds, or verification related to the previous account will be managed by the existing issuer and if you have any pending issues with the current issuer, you wont be able to port.
