Now you guys can able to use the power of artificial intelligence on your smartphones as the OpenClaw application is now available on both iOS and Android platforms.
It is actually not an AI chatbot but it is an open-source agent platform that will enable you to run AI agents and access them from anywhere through the new mobile apps.
Let’s check out the steps to setup:
After installing OpenClaw on a Mac, Linux machine, Windows (via WSL2), or a cloud server. You need to complete the onboarding process to create your Gateway. Now simply connect your preferred AI model using an API key and pair it with the iOS or Android app with your Gateway by scanning a QR code.
After connecting, it will enable you to chat with your AI agents and you will also be able to run and manage agents remotely. It will also allow you to view channels, tasks, and replies. You can also receive notifications and allow agents to access your phone’s camera, microphone, location, Canvas, and other device features when you grant permission.
It is worth mentioning that OpenClaw doesn’t include its own AI model, but you can able to connect it to OpenAI (ChatGPT), Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or run local models with Ollama.
Key Things to Remember:
It will not support ChatGPT Plus and Claude subscriptions and you need OpenAI or Anthropic API keys if you want to use those models. If you can’t make the payment for APIs, then you need to use Ollama with local models for a completely free setup, or use the free tiers offered by Gemini Flash and OpenRouter. It is worth mentioning that the mobile app doesn’t run your agents by itself and it will be connecting to your OpenClaw Gateway.
If your Gateway is running on your computer, that computer needs to stay online. If you want 24/7 access, you can run the Gateway on a VPS, Raspberry Pi, NAS, Mac mini, or any always-on server instead. So the newly introduced mobile application will make things easy and you will be able to carry your AI agents with you.
