The Chinese smartphone maker, Oppo has announced the set up of a specialized lab for camera innovation at its Hyderabad R&D Centre. The innovation lab is designed with an intention of testing phone cameras in different artificially set scenes and analyzing data produced from those test results. The lab is aimed at improving the overall performance of smartphones by bringing more optimizations to the camera technology.
The camera innovation lab is mainly designed to develop localised features, camera solutions using AI, and developing image software for a better user experience.
Oppo’s new camera innovation lab will use emerging artificial intelligence or AI facial recognition technology to enhance the application of beauty solutions. Oppo has also confirmed that all these imaging effects will be specially designed and tuned for Indian skin tones. The company’s Indian team will also be leading innovations for other countries including the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Japan, and Europe
Oppo innovation camera lab will also focus on building new solutions to resolve issues such as night videography, different surrounding light and light temperatures. The lab is equipped with specialized machines to test various light sources with different photography or videography scenario.
Moreover, the innovation lab of Oppo will also work towards developing solutions for video, still photography, and even research on Full Dimension Fusion(FDF)portrait video system technology.
