Oppo is known to lead the mobile industry with cutting edge innovation in the camera department. Living up to this name, the company has now unveiled next-gen periscope camera with improved zooming capabilities. The company has also hinted that users can have it on their smartphones pretty soon.
Coming to the technical details of the new camera sensor, it features a 7-element lens which can achieve the focal length adjustment in the range from 85 mm to 135 mm (in 35 mm equivalent). The lens will also have an aperture of f/3.3 that is extendable up to f/4.4 which is the peak zoom level attainable. It also comes with a new 16-bit high-precision driver IC which promises accurate zooming and autofocus coupled with optical image stabilization.
In combination, Oppo has been working on a new set of algorithms that promise better sensor and image processing algorithms. The “large” sensor will have a 32 MP resolution coupled with a Quad Bayer filter. This level of sophisticated technology will take the hybrid zooming up to 280 mm. In this way, a smartphone carrying this sensor in combination with a 26 mm wide lens on the main camera, might offer up to 5.2x, which is a great feat of engineering from the company.
If things go as planned by Oppo, we could see this camera setup on the upcoming successor to the Oppo Reno 10x zoom, which appeared on TENAA last month touting an upgraded periscope. Along with this camera, the smartphone will also feature a 6.5” 90 Hz AMOLED display, 5G connectivity and a 3,945 mAh battery.
So, that’s all for now. We are looking forward to hearing more about the same in the coming days and we recommend you to stay tuned with us for more interesting information at your fingertips.
