During the Oppo Inno Day 2021 Event , the company has been showing off some of the innovations in store for its users. After the Oppo AR Glass 2021, the company has taken wraps off the Oppo X 2021 Rollable Concept Phone. The smartphone keeps with with the tradition of the company in introducing innovative advancements via the ‘X’ Series, which started with Oppo Find X in 2018.
This new rollable smartphone as you might have guessed can roll out its display from 6.7-inches to a bigger 7.4-inches when necessary. The demo video shows the phone in action as it expands its display and rolls out when a link to a video on the smartphone is clicked.
This rolling action is done with the help of a proprietary technology called Warp Track using which a high-strength screen laminate display sits beneath the actual display and is just 0.1mm thick at its thinnest part. Eventhough there aren’t much details on the material of the new display, sources suggest it to be some sort of plastic. Thanks to the dual-motor driven rolling action, the phone achieves a zero-crease screen which other foldables have to live with. The company has used a dynamic frame that combines the use of a fixed and a moving frame placed vertically. The 2-in-1 design helps eliminate gaps and holds it together with the help of a metal support layers underneath the panel.
Oppo has not revealed any plans in making the Oppo X 2021 Rollable Concept Phone commercially available any time soon. However one can expect similar technology to be used in some form in Oppo’s foldable phones rumoured to debut sometime next year.
