Paytm Mini App Store Launched for Indian Developers

Paytm has launched a new Paytm Mini App Store dedicated to Indian developers. The App Store will reside inside the digital payments app. This move came soon after the Indian tech space was debating about a need for a national app store for Indian developers who could gain exposure from a less crowded space.

This approach is different from a dedicated app store as the payments app is just hosting links to Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). Thus these apps do not require the user to install any application. It would run within a web browser with the help of the internet. At the moment, it does not have an extensive list of apps but the company plans to add 300 apps to the list in the coming days.

According to the company, this would help small developers and businesses in India to set up low-cost and easy to build apps using HTML and Javascript. These apps can be listed without any charges. Once the app is up on the Paytm Mini Store, it can be opened within a window inside the Paytm app itself. The company will provide developers with free access to services like Paytm wallet, Paytm Payments Bank, and UPI. But there would be a 2% extra charge when credit cards are used for payments. In addition, they would get access to dashboards for analytics, payment collection, and various marketing tools to better optimize the performance of their app.

Some of the popular apps which are already present in the app store include Decathlon, Domino’s Pizza, FreshMenu, Netmeds, NoBroker, Ola, and more. It has been in beta for some time now and has seen over 12 million visits in September alone. To access the Mini App Store, open your Paytm app. On the home page, click on Show More > Mini App Store from the pop-up menu.
