The 3GPP is expected to announce the phase 1 5G specification by this week. The next-gen wireless communication has come a long way since 2016.
The 3GPP is expected to unveil the next-gen wireless communication- 5G phase 1 this week. This initial phase is a non-standalone version of 5G and control elements of the data sessions is made with the support of LTE.
The initial testing is made with PHY layer for 5G which supports various millimetre wave and sub-6GHz bands. This 5G phase 1 will have 2.5 GHz (band 41) for common 5G bands and with 3.5 GHz for the infrastructure boost globally.
“It’s really exciting. Early-drop NR specifications give the industry a good sight-line to the commercial launch of 5G mobile in the second half of 2019. This is an ambitious schedule, but it appears, at this stage, to be viable and is what some lead operators want to achieve,” said Gabriel Brown, principal analyst at Heavy Reading.
This initial 5G specification will focus on enhanced broadband and also supports IoT. And this is the first step towards common 5G technology. Let us wait and get more information regarding 5G phase 1 in future days.
