According to the latest information, the upcoming PlayStation 6 will come with a semi-custom APU from AMD, manufactured by TSMC. The processor features a Zen 5 CPU and UDNA GPU, both built on cutting-edge process nodes. The Zen 5 CPU is expected to come with 8 cores and 16 threads.
The UDNA GPU, previously referred to as RDNA 5, and the same will use TSMC’s N3E process node. It is expected to come with advanced features including X3D cache technology, similar to AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D desktop processor.
It is also expected to feature 4K at 120FPS and 8K at 60FPS, and the next generation gaming console is also expected to utilize AI-based upscaling technologies. It will be coming with the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and it is also expected to support AMD’s upcoming FidelityFX Super Resolution 5 (FSR 5).
