The names of the Chrome extensions which are causing issues include Netflix Party, Netflix Party 2, Full Page Screenshot Capture – Screenshotting, FlipShope – Price Tracker Extension, and AutoBuy Flash Sales.
Netflix Party and Netflix Party 2 Chrome extensions were the most downloaded among the five Chrome extensions. These particular Chrome extensions enable users to watch shows or movies on Netflix together even when they are in different regions.
It is also reported that these Chrome extensions loaded a multipurpose script that transfers browsing data to an attacker-controlled domain. It is capable to take your browsing data whenever you visit a new URL. The report says that the data includes the user ID, device location, nationality, zip code, and an encoded referral URL.
The guys behind this insert code into the shopping websites and alters the site’s cookies which enables them to create affiliate ID to receive affiliate payment for any products which a user purchase from a shopping website.
