Microsoft’s upcoming xCloud gaming service has been leaked as a web version. According to the source the leaks came from the company’s employees who were part of a team of testing ahead of the scheduled public rollout.
If you did not know, xCloud is a gaming service based in the clouds which are currently available for Android devices. By using xCloud, you can play games on you device using Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which is streamed to your Android device from the clouds. Unfortunately at the moment, it is unavailable in iOS devices for which Microsoft should submit the service for review and get it approved after which Apple will take a cut from the profit.
However, Microsoft decided to play around and bend this rule by releasing a web version of the Cloud service which only requires a web browser app on an iPhone or an iPad. Using this web-based service Microsoft will let you play the Game Pass titles if you have a compatible controller. Besides you can also access these titles via desktop computers using a web browser.
According to the source, the service is currently only working on Chromium-based browsers but it could be available on other browsers at launch. We expect it to be available on Safari upon release as Microsoft is targeting iOS devices primarily.
