As expected, the popular mobile chipset maker Qualcomm has unveiled its latest and greatest mobile chipset called Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus and the same is actually a boosted CPU as well as GPU version of the current Snapdragon 865 processor. Qualcomm is not doing this for the first time as last year the company unveiled Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. Everything about Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus
The latest Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC is based on the 7nm process and the same features Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU cores with clock speeds of up to 3.1GHz and the company claims that it will offer a 10 percent performance boost compared to the current 865. The newly unveiled chipset also comes with the Adreno 650 GPU which is also 10 percent faster than the GPU of the Snapdragon 865, and the same also comes with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features and that includes Desktop Forward Rendering, Qualcomm Game Smoother, Qualcomm Game Color Plus v2.0, and more, with support for true 10-bit HDR gaming. It also supports a 144 Hz refresh rate.
Regarding the connectivity options, the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus supports 5G with the in-house X55 Modem-RF System along with 6GHz operation (Wi-Fi 6E), Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS, NavIC, GPS, and more. It also supports FastConnect 6900 System, and the same integrates advanced audio capabilities to Wi-Fi 6.
Talking about the camera department, it comes with 960 fps slow motion video at 720p, along with the High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) photo capture, and the same supports single camera up to 200-megapixels, Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) and Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL) for a single camera up to 64-megapixels at 30fps, and ZSL at 30fps for up to 25-megapixel dual camera setup.
Furthermore, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus comes with the fifth generation AI Engine and that will provide better battery and also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
Having said that, Qualcomm has also confirmed that the Asus ROG Phone 3 will be the first smartphone which will be powered by the newly announced latest and greatest chipset. The chipset will arrive in more smartphones by the third quarter of this year.
