Qualcomm – the popular chipset makers have launched three new processors at an event in India and it comes with lots of exciting elements, the company has launched three new chips and that are called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 460. The ultimate aim of the company with the new processors to make the connectivity faster as well as implementing new protocols. It will also make the devices more powerful with its own various add-ons-such as Qualcomm AI engine, Qualcomm sensing hub, and more. Snapdragon 720G
Let’s start with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, and the G tag is self-explaining as it is meant for the gaming devices and the same is coming with lots of gaming elements along with the amazing colour range. It will offer HDR gameplay as well as the dynamic colour range along with the contrast and synchronized sound through the in-house Qualcomm aptX Adaptive. Moreover, the same is also coming with the Qualcomm Spectra 350L ISP and that will deliver HDR viewing along with high-quality video streaming. It also supports 4K video recording and capturing 192-megapixel still images.
The chip also supports the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with 3-carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO on two carriers, and 256-QAM modulation for download speeds up to 800Mbps. The Snapdragon 720G is based on an 8nm process along with Kryo 465 CPU with two Cortex A76 cores at up to 2.3GHz and six Cortex A55 cores at up to 1.8GHz, and the latest chip also supports the new Adreno 618 GPU.
It also loaded with the FastConnect 6200 subsystem which is said to double Wi-Fi speed and range for online gaming and Web browsing. Moreover, it also supports Quick Charge 4+ technology to offer fast charging and USB-PD sources.
Snapdragon 662
It is coming with the Hexagon 683 and has Kryo 260 CPU with four cores of Cortex A73 at up to 2GHz and four cores of Cortex A53 at up to 1.8GHz, and matted with Adreno 610 GPU. The same is also coming with the ability of Qualcomm Charge 3.0 along with Dual Charge.
The chip also supports Qualcomm Spectra 340T and offers a triple rear camera and that’s in the combination of up to 48-megapixel primary sensor. The ISP also supports HEIF file format and also supports AI-based user experiences like avatars, night photography, and face and voice authentication. It also supports the Snapdragon X11 LTE modem.
Snapdragon 460
The new Snapdragon 460 processor is the successor of Snapdragon 450 and it comes with 60% improved performance when we compare to the predecessor. The chipset supports Qualcomm Snapdragon 340 ISP which supports a triple camera and that supports 25-megapixel primary sensor it also comes with a Hexagon 683 with Qualcomm Hexagon vector extensions and Hardware accelerated TensorFlow Lite.
It also supports Snapdragon X11 LTE modem and powered by Kryo 240 CPU with dedicated performance cores, along with Adreno 610 GPU. The chip also supports Quick Charge 3.0 along with Dual Charge support.
Apart from that, all the three new processors are supported with the Qualcomm Location Suite which has up to seven satellite constellations concurrently and also has NavIC that has been developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) which will provide accurate location in both the urban as well as a remote parts of the country and these are the first chips of the Qualcomm which supports the same.
Availability
The new Snapdragon 720G processor-powered device by the first quarter of this year while the other two new processors will be available by the end of this year.
Supported devices
Qualcomm hasn’t revealed the entire list of devices that will come with the new processors, but Realme as well as Xiaomi has confirmed that they will bring smartphones with the new Snapdragon 720G processor.
